If you’re a South Carolinian, you know that Palmetto State pride runs deep. From the sandy shores of the Lowcountry to the rolling hills of the Upstate, and the PeeDee Region, residents wear their love for South Carolina like a badge of honor. That’s exactly what inspired Hometown Colors, a family-run brand that’s all about celebrating the unique spirit of the state and its residents’ favorite pastimes through stylish hats, apparel, and accessories. With roots in Lexington County and a growing presence across the Southeast and beyond, Hometown Colors is quickly becoming a go-to for anyone looking to show off their hometown loyalty and favorite pastimes.

A Local Start with Big Dreams

Hometown Colors was born in 2020 in South Carolina, during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a creative outlet for founders Aaron Harris and his wife has grown into a thriving business that resonates with South Carolinians and fans of the brand’s vibrant, community-driven designs. According to Voyage South Carolina Magazine, the husband-and-wife and two local employees still personally process every order, ensuring a personal touch with every purchase.

Today, Hometown Colors operates three key locations in South Carolina: Batesburg-Leesville, Gilbert, and Soda City Market in Columbia. Each spot offers a chance to browse their awesomely unique products and connect with the brand’s mission of fostering tradition and pride. Whether you’re grabbing a hat at their new Batesburg-Leesville flagship store and warehouse, shopping Gilbert pride at the Five 4 in Gilbert, or checking out their booth at Soda City, you’re sure to find something that sparks a conversation about your love for the Palmetto State.

Locations to Visit

  • Batesburg-Leesville: In January 2025, Hometown Colors moved to a larger space on Main Street in this charming town, known for its rich history and annual South Carolina Poultry Festival. The new store offers more room to showcase their growing inventory, making it a must-visit for locals and travelers alike. 139 North Oak Street in Batesburg-Leesville next to Groucho’s Deli.
  • Gilbert: This small town in Lexington County is another hub for Hometown Colors fans. Their presence here reflects their commitment to staying connected to the tight-knit communities that inspired their brand. Stop by to see their latest Gilbert community driven designs.
  • Soda City Market: Every Saturday, Hometown Colors sets up shop at Columbia’s vibrant Soda City Market, a bustling street fair that draws crowds from across the Midlands. It’s the perfect place to grab a unique piece of apparel while enjoying local food, music, and crafts. Their booth is a hotspot for those looking to add a pop of Palmetto flair to their wardrobe.

Expanding Across the Southeast and Beyond

From their Midlands roots, Hometown Colors has expanded far beyond South Carolina’s borders. Their geographic hats and apparel collections span beyond South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Texas, with over 40,000 pieces shipped to 39 states and six countries. Fans rave about their products, with one Facebook reviewer calling their Florida hat “awesome” with “fantastic” colors and patches.

But Hometown Colors isn’t stopping there. In 2025, the brand plans to spread its wings even further, aiming to bring their state pride-inspired designs to the rest of the USA and continue their non-geographic designs like the Hometown Grit Hat. With all their embroidery and printing still done locally in the Midlands, they’re staying true to their South Carolina roots while sharing their vision of community and pride nationwide.

Why Hometown Colors Stands Out

What makes Hometown Colors special isn’t just their eye-catching designs—it’s their commitment to building a community around tradition and loyalty. Every hat, shirt, or accessory is crafted to start conversations about what makes South Carolina so special. As their website puts it, “We were inspired to build a brand and design that South Carolinians can be proud of.” In addition they have 26+ School partnerships in South Carolina where they give back $3.00 with each co-branded 803 & school hat. They have donated over $5000.00 since starting the program in 2022.

Whether you’re strolling through Batesburg-Leesville, visiting their Gilbert location, or catching them at Soda City, Hometown Colors offers more than just apparel—it’s a celebration of the Palmetto State’s unique character. And with their sights set on the rest of the country, this local gem is poised to become a national favorite.
