Part 1: An Introduction to S.E.A. Place and Its Core Mission
In the heart of Lexington County, South Carolina, a dedicated nonprofit organization continues to make a profound difference in the lives of residents. S.E.A. Place—short for Support, Education, and Advisement Place—was founded in the summer of 2020 by a group of passionate educators and community members committed to positively impacting the Red Bank community and surrounding areas. As of 2025, the organization remains steadfast in its grassroots approach, operating primarily in Lexington and nearby neighborhoods with a clear mission to empower individuals in need through comprehensive support, education, and advisement programs that are accessible to all.

At its core, S.E.A. Place focuses on bridging critical gaps in education and basic needs, offering services entirely free of charge. One of its flagship initiatives is the free G.E.D. Program, held every Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm at White Knoll High School. This program provides adults with tutoring, essential resources, supplies, workbooks, practice tests, and even full coverage of exam costs. By preparing participants for the GED exam, it opens pathways to career advancement, enrollment in local technical colleges, or improved job opportunities in a competitive market.
Complementing the adult education efforts is the Youth Leadership Program, an enriching afterschool initiative for middle and high school students. Sessions run Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4pm to 6pm, with additional Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm. Activities encompass a wide range: sports for physical health, arts and crafts for creativity, games for fun and teamwork, homework assistance for academic success, life skills training for personal development, community service projects to instill civic responsibility, and field trips designed specifically for career exploration. Adult mentors play a pivotal role, fostering meaningful, long-term relationships that guide young people toward confidence and growth.

The organization’s community services further extend its reach and impact. The weekly Food Pantry, open Thursdays from 10am to 12pm at Radius White Knoll Church on 5181 Platt Springs Road, welcomes anyone in need without restrictions, providing essential groceries to combat food insecurity. Additionally, Friday evening drive-through outreach distributes free hot meals alongside prayer, encouragement, and ongoing support, helping to build trusting relationships for those facing various challenges.
S.E.A. Place operates as a tightly knit, community-rooted nonprofit. By delivering these vital programs at no cost, it serves as a beacon of hope and practical assistance, specifically targeting adults seeking educational advancement, youth building leadership skills, and families struggling with immediate needs. In a county experiencing steady growth, S.E.A. Place’s consistent presence underscores the power of local, volunteer-driven efforts to uplift and unite the community.
